Meet Dr. David Egan, Chiropractor – Surrey, BC

If I only knew then what I know now…”

Dr David Egan, Surrey and North Delta Chiropractor

Dr. David Egan

For many of my teen years I suffered with headaches. I can remember my friends coming to the door asking if I wanted to play street hockey and me saying no because I had a headache. By the time I was in fourth year of university they had progressed to frequent, full blown, throbbing migraines. The kind where all you can do is lie down in a dark and quiet room and hope they go away! Pain killers and other medications reduced the pain a little but did nothing to stop them from coming back in a few days. At that time my brother referred me to his chiropractor (thanks bro!). The chiropractor found some misalignments in my neck that were causing my headaches and the results of his treatment was immediate improvement – fewer headaches . I was so impressed that I did a little research and decided to become a chiropractor myself. As a chiropractor I have helped many patients get relief from headaches. I continue to receive weekly chiropractic treatments and I am happy to report that I have had only one migraine headache in the last 29 years!

I was so Impressed that I became a Chiropractor

I finished my studies at Simon Fraser University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and then studied for four years at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. I graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1991, moved back to North Delta, British Columbia and have been practicing as a Chiropractor in Delta and Surrey on Scott Road since then.

Treating a Wide Variety of Patients

As a Chiropractor in Surrey I have had the pleasure of treating approximately 11,000 different people from the North Delta and Surrey communities in that time. My patients ages range from three week olds with colic to 90 year olds with arthritis. Some are weekend warriors, others are professional athletes but most are just regular people. Most come to see me because they are in pain but some are feeling well and just want to stay that way.

I particularly enjoy working with young athletes (and old ones too) – taking care of their sports injuries so they can continue playing the games they love..

I believe that everybody should be able to live a pain free, active lifestyle.

Along the road of life we accumulate injuries and stresses that do damage to the body. Muscles tighten, joints become stiff, misaligned and lock up and nerves get pinched or irritated. We end up feeling unwell, stressed out and have less energy than we would like.

Chiropractic works to undo the effects of a lifetime of stresses to the body. My goal with each patient is to help them restore their health and well being so they can be as active as they want to be and enjoy life to the fullest.

That said, robust health is much more than just being symptom free. True wellness comes from the optimal function of our physical, mental and spiritual being. I believe that practicing prevention is the best way to attain and maintain wellness. Exercising regularly, eating healthy foods, getting adequate rest and getting regular chiropractic adjustments are important aspects of prevention.

When not at Scott Road Chiropractic

When not at work I like to stay active, running or biking around North Delta – I particularly like to run in the bog or you may spot me running around Sungod Recreational Centre. I have two sons and have enjoyed coaching their soccer teams for twelve years. I have in the past volunteered on the North Delta Youth Soccer Club executive for four years. (Due to my wife’s illness with MS and cancer I had to take a break from volunteering but hope to get back to it in the future.) I also enjoy hiking in the coastal rain forests, kayaking, skiing, curling, improving my photography skills and most of all spending time with my wife and kids.

I have been a member of the Delta Photography Club for three years and have been serving on their executive since 2017. My wife and I also recently started curling with the Delta Thistle Curling Club and enjoy playing on two different teams each year.
